Sugar Mill Ruins

Recently we visited Fontainebleau State Park. As we were driving in one of the first things I noticed were  these crumbling old brick towers. So, we stopped to get a closer look. The bulletin board was of no help. All it said was it was a Sugar Mill, but I wanted to know more and the visitor center was locked tight. I began to walk around and take pictures.

A little tidbit from the internet ...

 The Sugar Mill Plantation had 2,800 acres, located in Madeville, La. built back in 1852 by Bernard de Marigny de Mandeville founder of  the town Mandeville, on the shore of  Lake Pontchartrain.

 The plantation helped support his lavish life style. He named it Fontainebleau after a forest near Paris, a favorite recreation area for the French Kings.

At the Beach

We went to lake Saturday and there was a small beach. It was nice enough to enjoy until the rain came, and made it even hotter! I was able to take a few pictures while we were there.

Purple Bearded Iris

My Purple Bearded Iris' Have Finally Bloomed!

 They are so beautiful every year in the garden.

It's almost as if they are just showing off!

Bee Wings Captured

The other day we were all sitting outside enjoying the beautiful day when I kept seeing this bumble bee hovering by the fence. This went on for awhile. He would zip around, come back, and then hover more. I went in to get my camera, figuring by the time I went back out he would have zipped away.
He was still showing off!

Zoo Day | The Giraffe

When visiting our local zoo I took quite a few photos. This particular one I just added a lot of saturation and contrast and this is what I got. I kinda like it, brings out a painting feel. What do you think?
